Are my twins too young to enjoy Twins Days?

I have a 2 sets of twins, 4-yo identical girls and 2-yo identical boys. I also have 2 singletons that are 7 and 6 years old. I have been thinking about coming to Twins Days because I figured it would probably be the one place on earth where we would fit in and not be the center of attention. My kids are used to strangers taking photos of them and we are always stopped out in public. I think it would be fun to take them to a place where they are just like everyone else!

However, I have a couple of questions...

Are my kids too young to enjoy this? Is it more for adult twins?

What is the parking situation like at the festival? I read that there is a shuttle. Is there a place to park that doesn't involve using a shuttle? (We can't ride a shuttle, we'd have to walk.)

Reply #1 - Jun 29^th, 2010 at 8:35am My twin sister and I are 12 and we always have lots of fun! There's lots of things for little kids like on Friday there's bounce houses and other games. At the festival there are rides and contest for their ages. I think they will have a lot of fun!

Heather,

Twins Days is a blast for the whole family...our mom brought us for the first time when we were 2 years old....we haven't missed a year since....we are now 18 yrs. old. You'll find yourself at home among new found friends...it is truly an awesome weekend!!
Your question about parking is "yes" plenty of parking close by...across the street from the fair grounds at a middle school. (Bring wagons or strollers for your little ones to ride in.)
Your whole family will LOVE the parade too!!

Hi Heather

Congratulations on all of your children. The festival is for twins of all ages. Friday they have bouncy things for the older ones. There is an area on the main grounds that has rides (typical parking lot carnival stuff), and a pretty good playground. Plus the contests for the twins.

As for the parking and shuttle situation, the two main parking areas are easily walkable and you probably won't need to use the shuttle service. (the shuttles are just golf carts). I would say that the average 6 and 7 year olds wouldn't have a problem with the walk. There is lots of walking on the grounds, so comfy shoes and lots of water are recommended.

As long as you bring appropriate transportation (strollers, buggies, etc) and sunscreen (and the rest of the assorted luggage all young children require for a day out, lol) your kids, and you, should have a blast! Think outdoor festival or fair, populated by multiples ...

My sister and I didn't venture to the festival until we were in our 20s. It's a blast! This will be our 4th year. And since yours are so young, they can look around and realize that they are normal and that there are a ton of people just like them!

I would say no age is too young. My twin and I were taken two and a half weeks after we were born and we won youngest twins. And it's pretty cool that we can now always say that our first year there we won the youngest twins competition. Although some would be against taking such young things outside (we were not premature and I was 9 pounds and my sister 6, and my mom's normal weight was/is 100 pounds. Who knows how she did it. Lol.) I would think as long as they are healthy and the correct precautions are taken, then it would be fine even at that young (I know you said yours weren't that young, but I was answering if someone else was considering it).

I will echo the no age is too young. My girls have gone for the last three years and they are now 5. I think this is the year that they'll really have a lot of fun but watching them interact with the other kids last year was a blast. It will be a good time for the whole family. You'll enjoy it! I have to say that no age is too young! My mom took us the year we are born, making this our 22nd year (we just turned 21) and we were born on July 18th, so we were only a couple weeks old. And we won that year for Youngest Twins. And now I get to brag about that accomplishment... even if I was too young to remember it! Lol.

At the younger age, it's more for the parents. Although I know zip about parenting, in my personal opinion, coming from a twin, it would be beneficial for the parents of all age twins to go so they could chat with other twin-parents and learn valuable parenting lessons specifically for twins. I know enough to know 1 child is a handful, let alone multiples! So any and all advice should be openly appreciated!
